It used to be a lot stronger in the nineties (like all scents), but it is still very potent. This is old-fashioned but not outdated i.e. A little goes a long way.

Have lived under the proverbial rock for 20 years, as fragrances go.

Smells like a mixture of tires and a mechanics workshop. The leather is not overwhelmed by florals or citruses (something I admit I find with Aramis Aramis). Performance is very good( about 8 hours if you go heavy on the sprays and apply on clothing), even though it's an edt.

new Did not wind up buying a bottle but would definitely recommend trying if you want something spicy and assertive.

Just bought a bottle(100ml).

I worked for Christian Dior when Fahrenheit was the blockbuster of the era. To me it smells like motor oil and cucumber.

I hear the petrol/violet thing (and find that kinda fun) but this really shines for me as a fresh spicy, aromatic, green.

a classic.

My main signature scent in the 90s and has some major scent associations for me.

10/10 fragrance.

The Fahrenheit signature is born.

Quality here is surely top notch but how could people wear this?

It felt abrasive, old, and just not pleasant.

I love this. Yeah, so, this performs just fine on me and my bottle is from 2021.

I didnt even know how to wear cologne then, hardly do now tbh.

It is still fantastic.

First after 3h and 2nd was after 8hours when i thought its gone my friend told me how good my Fahrenheit is from 3ft distance.

Not particularly masculine at all.

first up comes the famous or infamous machine oil scent.

In rare cases, the packaging may be updated by the brand without warning, or the language might differ from the one you see presented. The scent is a classic and will still be in 100 years from now.

But then, over time, a real warm scent emerges. Normally, you wouldn't want to smell gasoline but it's also weirdly captivating and you want to smell glimpses of this even though something in your brain tells you not to.

A masterpiece.

Wasn't fading out for no reason, even though it was spring, even though the place i lived is a bit humid. Nothing floral in this fragrance but I did get a hint of fresh notes which was only for a mere second. Beautiful scent, I'd love for my partner to wear this. To be honest, it smells like the old leather couch in my basement after I have spent five hours sitting on it, naked in the sweltering heat, and had to peel my sweaty buttocks off of it like silly putty.

You can smell the leather, but once the brain made the connection, I just couldn't get it out of my head I was wearing gasoline. - eBay Money Back Guarantee - opens in a new window or tab, Christian Dior Fahrenheit Eau De Toilette Spray 200ml Mens Cologne, - eBay Return policy - opens in a new tab or window, - eBay Money Back Guarantee - opens in a new tab or window.

It's true.

Perhaps it was from a bad batch, but leaves me to wonder if the newer batches were rushed to market, or how badly IFRA standards have impacted newer formulations.

The result is a luminous yet characteristic blend that promises to inspire you with each spray. I got into fragrances early this year. Been my cherished signature since.. 15-16? I respect it for what it is, but its definitely one for the collection rather than one for the office. Passed the work test of 8hrs with still projection.

It took me a little bit to get a feel for what it was as it was definitely strange on the first impression and yes, there is a gasoline opening to it at the start. I didn't get the sharp note in the drydown this time around, however it smells overwhelmingly synthetic to me. It has withstood the test of time. I think Johnny Depp wouldve been a better fit for this scent over Sauvage. fahrenheit easycosmetic

Doesnt smell dated to me at all and even though its a rare wear and more of a nostalgia thing, when I do I wonder why I dont more often. Never want to not have a bottle of this on hand. This is a gas! It can get you through the day, when other colognes may not survive or be overtaken as you go about your daily routine.

Although they do not smell the same, Farenheit is in the same genre as Pegasus.

Me: Pepper-Spice-Herbaceous.

Very much opens like gasoline. I kind of liked it at first, but now I can't get myself to wear it. Who would've thought smelling like spilled gasoline was what the doctor ordered?! Will always find a place on my small fragrance arsenal. But something kept me coming back, I got some decants and finally a new bottle.

It's a staple, therefore it shouldn't be missing from any fragrance enthusiast's collection (unless you particularly hate that smell, I guess). The mighty Fahrenheit from 1988, is as mighty as it has ever been, and in similarity to Aramis Classic and Chanel Antaeus, it's a giant, a monolith, which has successfully withstood the test of time. Kept going back and trying to enjoy it and found it repulsive. I don't understand the negative comments .

If you're not wearing this in the summer, you're making a mistake.

My experience of a recent batch sample did not leave me with a good impression, despite the gasoline note. All best fragrance brothers and sisters.

Pure gas pump jockey, sweat stained wife beater and oil under the nails. The reviews had me expecting heavy gasoline/leather but what I got was something bright and intoxicating.

Smells like a male flight attendant I walked past once. Strange to say, but this seems like a freshie now. A unique composition in 1988 for Men by Christian Dior. is one of the greatest fragrances of all time.

After that lightens up, some playful floral and spicy notes can be detected. I realize many people say this fragrance smells exactly like this or that, and I find that almost all of the time it's not very accurate.

Thank me later. Definitely has that 90's vibe to it. "It smells like something is going to happen, not necessarily good or bad, just something the scent equivalent of the feeling you get when you become shaky from very low blood sugar." It had a clean citrus and smoldering sweet smell on top of the oily leather petroleum vibe.

eau sauvage dior Longevity? It flirts with becoming unpleasantly sour, but it's well-balanced enough to stay just barely on the pleasant side. Even after 8 hours people could smell it around me at a good distance.

it smells like old lady who had her bag stolen at the gas station.

Where i lived a lot of men where wearing this and every bar or cafe or restaurant had this distinctive aroma in the air. Notes are so perfectly blended in this bringing up the amazing feel throughout its life in varying phases.

Fahrenheit certainly has a unique and timeless feel to it.

Only by the name it is a must have! People often talk about how the opening smells like gasoline or burning rubber, and even though I can completely see where that's coming from, there's something that feels really intriguing and alluring about the blend altogether.

@Mystres du Chteau de D - Please read my post on 10/29/21 21:29. I do think that the first edition 1988 did smell better such as many people claim but I was only 18 back then .

Free and Fast Shipping for orders above $104.11. And suddenly it hit me - this was a scent I remembered from my childhood in the 1990's!

Is not trendy. But as this was used by friend all the time I didn't want to use it for myself. It is, simply put, a timeless, unique and classy scent. Its a classic. This left me wondering about the "Fahrenheit" name.

it does not smell like car oil and certainly does not smell like gasoline, but to me it smells like a machine oil or a sewing machine oil or maybe gun oil or an oil you might put on your knife to protect it from the elements.

Girlfriend and her friends all agree.

Wore it when we went out to celebrate a buddies bday, I was sitting at the table and a girl walked by and so OH! It almost reminds me of thinner.

Maybe I'll use this one today. Dont miss out on this just for the opening trust me its only 10 minutes then you get a super masculine leathery smell that just makes you feel like working on your car or splitting firewood.

People are getting gasoline and leather from THIS?! Still PLENTY of vintage bottles out there in the wild. You wear Fahrenheit to close encounters like a date or formal occasions where you don't want to make a really bold statement and offend people, but still want to smell sexy and attractive. Truth be told, I was looking forward to return home and spray my new jacket with a generous dose of Davidoff by Davidoff, and turn it into my signature jacket soused in my then signature perfume. At the moment, I'm mainly enjoying the interplay of sweet citrus notes (mandarin) and fresh violet notes on the woody Iso E Super base.

onestopplus

A total classic. Maybe I need to put it on skin.

It becomes more enjoyable. I like this so much more than I thought I would.

You will get noticed.

I'll go much easier.

Smells so much better on skin than on paper. Blind buy from target on clearance! Older formula - lasts most of the day !!

Something went wrong.

Dior Fahrenheit (1988) - violet leaf fougere - a classic masculine-marketed perfume by #michelalmairac and #jeanlouissieuzac that I grew up wearing and smelling. The 2020 version is a gasoline bomb, folks!

In order to enhance the fragrance trail and also the longevity of the scent, try to complement its use with bath and body products from the same perfume range. It smells like leather, an expensive car, pine forests and spice. It is the fragrance of my collection that grabs more attention and gives me feedback everytime I use it. Sadly or luckily, my then girlfriend, now wife, didnt appreciate it as much as I did, so for some years I didnt wear any perfume at all. Literally petrol and a leather sofa in a bottle.

Fahrenheit was my first olfactory stop me in my tracks, love at first sniff. I just love this.

At the opening, Farenheit smells almost exactly like what my clothes used to smell like when I'd get home after work. Not for casual wear for sure. One of my favourite fragrances ever. The lavender and jasmine are definitely detectable and really help prolong its longevity. Remember the good old 1980s, when things were so uncomplicated? Do not expect some fresh cologne scent. I get leather and violet the whole way. I am not usually drawn to leather fragrances anymore. It does last a long time and becomes better and better as time passes.

I'd imagine James Bond wearing this. Longevity is 6-8 hours at best and projecting within arms reach for 1-3 hours and then after that intimate.

It launched 33 years ago, but is not classic, A Modern fragrance that smells so good and very pleasant. 9/10. This fragrance makes me want to put on a leather biker jacket, drink a shot of whiskey, and slam the shot glass down hard.

I think anyone can pull it off honestly.

This urges me to wear my biker jacket, drink a shot and be confident and harsh.

It really smells nothing like any of the notes listed, nothing like what I expected, nothing like how I read it would be. Maybe someday.

But my recent bottle is a great scent to my nose, and in fact smells so good that I promoted it to my Fragrantica favorites shelf. If you can overcome it, great, I for one couldn't.

I gave it another try today though and this time around, my reaction was quite different.

A lady-magnet perfume?

Arguably the last masterpiece of Dior's golden era, it shimmers like an oil slick. this is such a powerful scent that reflects masculinity and intense. Yea, it has a gasoline vibe or "wait what, is that good or not?" Good day and God bless!

My batch code is 0A01.

To be used in subtle quantities.

Forever a staple in my collection because its smell is still unique for how long ago it came out. Although made for men, we were directed to market the fragrance as unisex at a time when the term "unisex" only applied to hair salons. Way deeper and richer than Mercedes Benz For Men (I have not tried the intense). I could not believe what I was smelling.

Shut the garage Dior I am heading over to Chanel.

One of my first that I truly enjoyed wearing for myself.

Everyone speaks about the gasoline note like that's all fahrenheit ever was..

I absolutely hated it the first few times I tested it. :).

I like how unapologetic it is. Maybe it is some blend of florals or probably more likely an oily scent from oranges, since this fragrance has mandarine orange all throughout it.

Yes, gasoline.

4 sprays in the morning and 12 hours later it was still projecting, close to the skin.

This (TO ME!)

Forget it. Must have or, at least, try!

This smells like the man I need to be in love with.

The base notes are almost non-existent throughout the drydown.

Dirty, musky, floral, green it's all of these.

Hard to explain, but it smells very natural, like you'd smell it off your dad, after he has cut the grass all day and worked on the car engine after.

I love every stage of Fahrenheit!

Grab your leather jacket, worn-out jeans and dirty Vans sneakers get ready to face the world! Glorious.

And for those unaware of how rare unsolicited compliments are, I have has a total of 3 compliments for DF EDT in the last 33 years.

If you are into citrusy-opening leather/gasoline notes, this could be for you.

All the fragrances of that era were really strong, but that was of the charts, literally a room filler. It's not the nuclear bomb it used to be but still unique and sexy. A couple of days ago, I tried this on for the first time. I discovered this years ago while at work. Since the day this came out, I have loved this on men, so chic and sexy at the same time recently bought the current version for my husband, and I'm really glad he likes it too!

And I was stunned that she loved this fragrance so much she knew the smell immediately!

finally i got full size from vintage bottle edition my previous bottle is from batch 2010.

A timeless masterpiece.

I had to wash it off my wrist because it was nauseating. Starts with a bright citrus and Lavender opening that transitions to a spicy-sweet Nutmeg mixed with florals. Recommend highly.

I use what I enjoy the most and this type of fragrances is what I enjoy the most.

There hasn't been nor will there be a better leather/cedar/violet men's cologne. But what harm could a little window shopping do? Beast also throughout performance! I guess you really do have to smell everything. Unique, instantly recognisable and, what's most improtant, utterly addicting.

This is certainly an iconic name, but I couldn't have told you what it smelled like until now. i do think it had to be pretty nice before the reformulations.

I have this sneaking feeling that this fragrance has been so popular because it hits some kind of neural pleasure center.

It has just the right amount of floral undertones to be refined and clean. Again, I'm left wondering why I didn't detect a gasoline note from the '91 bottle.

Perfume lovers: 791,655 I sprayed it onto my wrist at a retailer and could not get any gasoline. A man I absolutely disliked walked past my cubicle and I got up to follow this scent.

moment of a new smell but it's chilling. I can tell some diferences and the old one lasts forever but the modern formula is still great, and one of the best fragrance in the market still.

Damnit. Not the most amazing fragrance ever, but it's pretty good.

Warm, spicy, and striking, we are talking about a signature scent that is truly distinctive.

Yes.

It honestly smells like nothing else on this world - sure, you can compare it to gasoline, grease, leather seat but these are just similarities of particular notes, glares of a bigger whole. What a vision. I also feel that Dior is somewhat confused about How their reformulations will be accepted as previous reformulations have been in Chaos post 2001. Acqua Di Gio? I wore this unsurpassable, most definitely masculine leaning creation for years, despite being a petite woman looking very feminine.

The perfume version is also nice but the EDT is closest to the original.

It is strong stuff.

I got more compliments from both men and women from wearing this scent than anything else and I still wear it and still get compliments. Still very sexy and unique tho. Sillage?

Scent takes me back to college days early 90s, only expensive shops imported this otherwise you couldn't buy it anywhere before internet lol this was so expensive and only professionals wore it. A beast. Easily one of the most evocative and arresting things my nose has ever encountered, Fahrenheit is also light-footed and quietly confident, sensually simmering on the skin. The more I wear it, the more I can understand and discern it's complexity. Straight to business and rugged, this fragrance doesn't kid around.

Still unique today. Recommend this vendor A1. Definitely pleasant and nice to the nose in a noncloying way, however it is pretty heavy and can be an easy dislike for some who do not prefer heavy dark notes.

It needs elements amped up a bit to me. So this really performs well.

Since then, I've worn it a few times. Stuff is strong and not a casual wear for sure.

We both bought a bottle each, one for my dad and one for me.

you wear Sauvage to the bar/club, when you want to flex and attract attention and compliments.

At first I found it too spicy and aggressive but when it dries down it has a warm, whiskey-like sweetness that's very pleasant. I simply love it!

It doesn't smell dated because it doesn't smell like anything else in that time period.

The peculiar blend of top and middle notes seem to induce a "gasoline" odor for the first hour or two.

Also look for older tubes of the SHOWER GEL as they do retain the original recipe. Its definitely the manliest scent in the entire Dior line.

Le Parfum is another favourite of mine.

My favorite fragrance of all time and Im 33.

I guess I had been imagining something completely different, after reading reviews and comments here.

Reminds of of Aramis Havana which for the money I would go for over this.

It evokes the shed you keep your lawn mower in--gas and grass.

F*ck yeah!

Might be the best of the best?

A classic masterpiece. Not sure this is wearable if you're under 25 unless you can truly pull off the dangerous, mature vibe that this gives off.

I got 2 compliments. This fragrance is very versatile.

The off-putting gasoline smell only lasts in the opening. An inspiring newsletter is one click away! (Not in a bad way, by any means).

Fragrance at its finest; I don't know the notes, but I can convey my feeling in all transparency; It gives me a feeling of gratitude and calmness; It gives me a feeling of softness and strength, just like the clothing of a butterfly in a house full of safety and plenty of abundance.

It still has the power to make people swoon regardless of gender or sexual preference. So, I let it sit for about a month before trying it again. To me, this smells like an extremely pleasant, natural body scent. {"modules":["unloadOptimization","bandwidthDetection"],"unloadOptimization":{"browsers":{"Firefox":true,"Chrome":true}},"bandwidthDetection":{"url":"https://ir.ebaystatic.com/cr/v/c1/thirtysevens.jpg","maxViews":4,"imgSize":37,"expiry":300000,"timeout":250}}. Fragrantica Inc, United States. This is how a mechanic workshop smells like and has its fans as you can see around. Proceed with caution. Best Bet #2 , older bottles of the SHOWER GEL !! Fahrenheit was my first fragrance love.

I cannot say much that has already been said. I'm very intrigued by a vintage now.

This is my first review and I have to say don't overspray or everyone will be smelling you.

I do have a vintage bottle from the 90s thats way more intense smelling than the newer one, ahhh reformulation.

Strong lumberjack vibes.

Fahrenheit is truly a tour de force in perfumery.

Someone was wearing it then and I remember thinking that I loved this scent and that this is how I would want to smell when I grew up!

But one of the few scents that the women in my life have agreed and commented on being a great scent. The mouth-watering Sicilia mandarin creates sparkling top notes that urge us to travel and amplify our minds. My friends at work already know my entire fragrance collection and often guess wich one i wear.

She was too shy to ask what he was wearing so straight after her shift she went to our local pharmacy and smelled all the aftershaves until she tracked it down.

I enjoy Fahrenheit so much more than Sauvage.

My old bottles are really long lasting and projecting.

A close second (but not really due to lacking some punch) would be Elixir des Merveilles; it has some of that cedar-spice vibe but it's much more feminine leaning.

Specifically, it smells like the old leather couch in my basement.

The Fahrenheit perfumes are one of the most classic ranges by Dior, embodying the pioneering spirit of the luxury house.

Do the math.

However, one thing that I do retain from my initial review here is that I do not feel the gasoline reference at all.

The smell of petrol and leather is real with this one. Mid is sharp new car interiors/leathery/violet, 80s vibes.

It is said that a barrel of perfume abandoned in a courtyard in the open air and sunlight suddenly gave off an extraordinary and unexpected fragrance. Complex and spicy.

10/10. There is something like gasoline here, yes; and something else like a hint of body odor; and something else like a walk in a meadow at high noon, the feel of a blue-sky day in the heat. where violet is done right and doesnt end up smelling like baby shampoo.

This is probably the most masculine scent I've ever smelt.

Nothing smells like it. Uhhhhthis one's tough to describe.

Fahrenheit is THE king of sexy, seductive, masculine fragrances; Fahrenheit is NOT unisex!!

This cuts through. Become a member of this online perfume community and you will be able to add your own reviews.

It doesnt remind me of the cologne giants that I grew up smelling older men wearing.

This is the smell of a real man.

It's very out of fashion now but that only makes it better for me as a signature scent. Im so sick of reformulations for the sake of cutting corners to boost profit margin and cash grabbing to put out a parfum flanker. Hard to use this type of fragrances in todays standards but I don't care.

The 5/29/21 review by anders.pilot is exactly right. I see a lot of longwinded reviews on this site that trend more towards poetry than a review.

Introduce it to your daily life as your selected fragrance, complementing it with bath products from the same range.

Though it is not exactly a summer beach fragrance and is not incredibly versatile.

Classic. Fragrance Reviews: 1,286,176 Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway!

Look for it!

Its definitely not a fougere.

I'm nearly 41. A tall, dark stranger.

Still no gasoline for me.

United States deliveries in 1 to 3 business days

In a world oversatured with sweet, fresh, ambroxan-heavy scents it's a breath of fresh air.

Leather floral, lasts long time. But try on skin rather than on paper.

Just picked up a100ml bottle and it takes me back in time to wearing leather jackets and being in the night life. The drydown is where you get your moneys worth with this one. People say 'gasoline' and I kinda get what they're saying, but it's not gasoline, it's a smooth leathery accord. Fahrenheit smells like what Neil Young looks like on Tonight's the Night, rugged and incredibly masculine. A true classic and a masterpiece!

A great scent with alot of history without being outdated! Big bold openingLinear, fast fading dry down.. but my God.
