As Goddess Earth is equally involved in all processes sustaining life: air wafting, grass growing (strong green notes), flowers blooming (mostly powdery iris, faintly rose, narcisus and lilly-of-the-valley), animal life thriving (leather notes), so is she part of decay (moist earth and woods, mossy-vetiver notes of herbs turning into soil). But occasionally I dislike it as it's also got this bitter earthiness about it initially. I agree with the comment below, why did Chanel turn its quality so much for worse? Also, wondering how powdery it is exactly? Im not delving into the history of a scent or a house or a nose, Im not deconstructing the notes and the ingredients; I have absolutely no interest in that, and quite frankly, you can find that elsewhere. Beautiful scent for a forest princess. Strong neroli, lots of rose, some green notes is what I can smell apart from galbanum. I have a vintage parfum, a kinda vintage EDT, and a brand new EDP. Realized I could be a "boardroom bitch" because I freaking love this scent. It is the epitome of Springtime.

I love how most of the time I can't smell it on me, but then all of a sudden I get a whiff. I may have bought this because it was referenced in the Goldfinch. A word of caution to those looking for vintage bottles I have just tried my own mid-90s bottle of EDP and its not how it used to be. Two weeks ago i wanted to have a bade in Chanel no 19, thats how good it smelled on me and I craved it like nothing else. The only way to get them to stop is BOYCOTT Chanel's now "Waters" until they gather their mind back. I'm usually someone for the WOW perfumes that blow me away. I've only been familiar with its other sisters like No. Fresh yet complex it is as easy to wear in the day as well as the evening and exudes class. It was a few years until I acquired my own bottle. It's a shame this gem is so hard to find! I agree that this scent is a masterpiece. Top notes: green notes and bergamot. I couldn't see myself without it.

I got some last stock before it was sold out as early as February-March of 2021 last year when I got word on here this was happening but nothing was certain. Fleeting performance. I absolutely adore the sharp green opening, which to me smells like galbanum but it's apparently not.

Sharp, glorious green and gorgeous. Light, green, earthy, powdery. Very cool, icy, chic.

Do I need it? Reminds me of my childhood that way.

/: 3,731 Very classy but for me also has a natural feeling, whether it is or not don't care. Don't get me wrong I like leather, but the oak moss it one note that I struggle with, (same problem that I have with Givenchy's Ange ou Demon). I took a 5 year hiatus from fragrances and when i bought a bottle again, i feel the remnants of its original is still therebut barely. The rose is too much for me, as the only flower I really like is iris, and that doesn't really smell like a flower at all. My usual catty i-mean-business No.19 is now defanged by the lovely peony and extra dose of lily of the valley from MGF, and their bases of sandalwood and iris gelds together so well. Though I haven't smelled the original which I need to find, this seems good enough for the moment. Yes, it starts off a little strong. It has the same balance between bright and the hint of darker sweetness that 31 RC has- a very beautiful balance and very satisfying. Don't know if this is to control sales, financial issues, supply chain getting worse to meet demands, or it's just not a high seller. This should be a near-perfect scent for me, though Ill say I have a tough time finding a green that stays but doesnt smell like a highly peppered vetiver man. I've found most Chanel perfumes old lady smelling and/or overwhelming when I was younger, but I grew to love most of them. For sure something different, in a good way. This is the perfect green woody clean scent for a lady. Its versatility and uniqueness still amaze me. The dry down is still green, some hints of flowers, yet it's creamy (idk why I think of this word, but it does) and powdery. I love reading the well informed and passionate reviews on this site about this art form that I am only just learning about. It was right in my face in the past few months, didnt even give it a go cause I was so far away from the no 5 I thought whats the point?! I wold give up a whole host of others to have these in my wardrobe at all times. It is exquisite. It's more mature and together than I am, so Chanel No. SO misunderstood. Perfume lovers: 792,149 The first, the wet fragrance and its immediate dry-down, is that of a green, woody town in the summertime, like Cape May Point or Vers-Pont-du-Gard. It isn't a cold goddess, she can never be cold, she is the one to understand that everything comes and goes, each element is chasing the next one in the circle of life. This is really good, like a vintage greenish mossy earthy scent for an everyday use but also if you want and can for a night time as well. His description of this fragrance as a heartless wire mother made me hesitate for years to buy it, even though all the notes seemed to add up to something I would adore. I can still sense oakmoss at the heart of its dry down but it isn't dewy anymore, more dried and reminiscent of plant stemsunless that's an entirely different green note altogether.
