seadoo spark flush adapter

Do I need to flush spark if I only ride in fresh water? I usually wear footwear as I 2018 GP1800. seadoo pwc I have a pair with the toes from Body Glove. Slightly confused by this..my dealer told me to stick a normal garden hose on the nipple at the back..can anyone advise if this is the right way of doing it? They work real good. Not easy to do but it beats removing the ibr.
